Good Morning Mets Fans! Wednesday Jason Vargas arguably pitched his best game of the season. In four and 2/3rds innings he allowed one run on three hits, while recording four strikeouts.
While he struck out Bryce Harper looking to record the second out in the top of the fifth, he was pulled for Seth Lugo with runners on first and second base. Once again, Vargas was not allowed to surpass the five inning mark.
Robert Gsellman fell apart in the eighth inning allowing three runs, which put the game out of reach for the Mets.
The Mets bats were also non existent as they failed to complete the sweep of the Phillies.
Today, the Mets have a rare day off before the Milwaukee Brewers come to town on Friday. Although there has been no official word yet, Jacob deGrom is expected to get the start to kick off the series as he returns from the I.L to go up against Brewers pitcher Chase Anderson.
First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. at Citi Field and the game will be televised on SNY.
