Buffalo (5-11) 5, Syracuse (12-8) 4 Box Score

  • CF Rajai Davis: 2-for-4, 2 Runs, BB, K, .217/.265/.304
  • C Tomas Nido: 1-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 K, .324/.333/.353
  • LF Tim Tebow: 1-for-2, Run, 2 BB, K, .180/.268/.240

Heading into the game, Tebow had roughly a 36% strikeout rate. Tebow has been facing tougher pitching and he had a lot of luck last season. Him crashing back down seemed inevitable but it’s still easy to root for him. Nido has walked very little and hit for very little power but has had a high average in a small sample. He has more power to be unlocked so hopefully that happens at some point.

Tim Peterson will now be famous for giving up the homer to Vlad Guerrero Jr. that made his defense better. Paul Sewald made his first appearance back in Syracuse. Hanhold has been solid and has shown plus stuff. He could be the next reliever to get the call.

Akron (8-11) 2, Binghamton (9-5) 0 Box Score

Toffey’s .386 OBP despite a .186 average is pretty crazy. His plate discipline and eye are very much legit. He has now reached base in six straight games and once his batting average stabilizes, his numbers should jump out. Gimenez had a rare hitless night. He had a hit in previous seven games before this. He has been hitting .326 over his last 10 games with five walks to 10 strikeouts.

Mazza was a pitcher in the Marlins organization last year. He has pitched in both Triple-A and Double-A this season and has been a filler, like he was last year. To his credit, he’s pitched well and perhaps most importantly, saved the bullpen. Uceta onlt came in to get one out after Mazza gave up a few runs in the eighth inning.

Lakeland (9-9) 10, St. Lucie (10-10) 4 Box Score

The St. Lucie offense got all their four runs in the seventh inning. Jacob Zanon is a super fast outfielder with solid exit velocity. People like him stick around as organization fillers at the very least because of their athleticism. Tiberi has cooled off after a hot start. He’s hitting .211 over his last 10 games and has just one hit over his last five coupled with five walks. His BB:K ratio over the 10 game span is 6:5 which means he is still seeing the ball well, the results have yet to change. Carpio’s shoulder keeps looking healthier by the day. Hopefully he’s ready for the jump to Binghamton.

Gilliam had his worst pro outing yesterday. The righty gave up five baserunners in two-thirds of an inning. He still managed a few strikeouts and no ball left the stadium so he will probably be just fine. His ERA ballooned up though. Should still be in Binghamton regardless.

West Virginia (12-6) 2, Columbia (7-12) 1 Box Score

It was a really quiet night for the Fireflies offense. They only managed six baserunners. It’s not been a fun transition for Vientos early on. He’s hit into some tough luck so hopefully he is due for a rebound. He does have a hit in his last four games. Mauricio continues to look like a top-50 prospect and probably is one at this point.

James had a sluggish first few starts but looked more like the top-30 (organization) prospect that he is last night. He still has some work to do especially with his mechanics but last night was a good step forward for him. Ramos has 14 strikeouts in 10.2 innings early on compared to three walks.
