Left-handed relief pitcher Cionel Pérez has signed a minor league deal with the Mets, per Francys Romero.

A.J. Minter was pulled from his rehab assignment due to left hip discomfort, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. While not a major setback, Minter’s return is no longer imminent.

Astros infielder Carlos Correa told reporters that he will miss the rest of the season as he is undergoing surgery for a torn tendon in his left ankle. The recovery time is expected to be 6-8 months.

The Tigers fired their Triple-A manager, Gabe Alvarez, after he sent an “inappropriate” text message to a female colleague, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. Alvarez apologized for the act, saying, “I regret that the message created this situation.”

Former Braves owner Ted Turner passed away at the age of 87.

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow left Wednesday’s game with low back pain. Manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Glasnow should be able to avoid an IL stint.

Detroit Tigers pitcher Framber Valdez has been suspended six games for intentionally throwing at Trevor Story. Detroit’s manager A.J. Hinch was also suspended one game for the pitch.

Matthew Boyd will be hitting the IL as he is getting surgery on a his left meniscus, per Jesse Rogers of ESPN. The Cubs pitcher injured himself while sitting down to play with his kids.

Gleyber Torres was placed on the 10-day IL with a left oblique strain. The Detroit Tigers called up Jace Jung from Triple-A Toledo to take Gleyber’s spot.
