Steven Matz struggled with injuries in 2017 once again and for yet another season he has something to prove as he stated to John Harper of the New York Daily News.

“We know we can do it,” Matz said about the starting rotation returning to their previously dominant form. “And I know I’m coming into spring training like I did in 2015, like I’ve got something to prove. A lot of the guys feel that way. As a group we’re really hungry.”

The Mets agreed on a contract with Jose Reyes to keep the veteran infielder in Queens according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. If Reyes passes a physical, he will be paid $2 million (with $500,000 in incentives) for 2018.
