Good morning, Mets fans!

Marlins starting pitcher Sixto Sánchez will miss the rest of the 2021 as he is set to undergo shoulder surgery, per Craig Mish of the Miami Herald. The club hopes he will return the mound in spring training of next year.

“Obviously, awful news starting with him and for us as an organization,” Miami manager Don Mattingly said. “I know we’d like to take the conservative route and hope we wouldn’t get to this, but obviously we have.”

The righty has not pitched this year for Miami but had an impressive 2020 season, going 3-2 with a 3.46 ERA. Sánchez also pitched in two postseason games last season.

After 4-2 over the Brewers, the Mets will look to clinch the series with the fellow division leader on Tuesday night at Citi Field. New York will send ace Jacob deGrom (7-2, 0.95 ERA) to the mound to face off against Milwaukee lefty Brett Anderson (2-5, 4.69).

First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. and will be broadcasted on WCBS 880 and WQBU 92.7 and can be seen on ESPN and SNY.

Let’s get into Tuesday morning’s briefing.
