Rookie: FCL Marlins (3-1) 13, FCL Mets (3-3) 8

Box Score

Despite an 11-hit performance from the FCL Amazins’, the Mets fell to the Marlins by a score of 13-8 in eight innings. Omar De Los Santos highlighted the Mets’ day at the plate as he went 3-for-5 with an RBI single in the eighth inning.

Cesar Berbesi also impressed on Monday with a home run to right in the seventh inning, going 2-for-4 at the plate. One thing that contributed to the FCL Mets’ loss was that five starters went without a hit on the day, making the lineup very top-heavy.

Besides Franklin Sanchez who allowed no hits through 1.2 innings of work, the Mets pitching staff had a tough day on the mound, allowing 14 hits. Starter Jace Beck was credited with the loss as he allowed three runs on five hits while striking out three batters in 2.2 innings.

Syracuse, Binghamton, Brooklyn and St. Lucie did not play on Monday.
