Latest on Baseball’s Timetable to Return

It’s anyone’s guess to whether a season will start. The Mets have taught me to be pessimistic so I’m leaning towards a season not occurring. With the rise of COVID-19 cases in states, I find it highly unlikely that teams will be able to safely navigate the outbreaks.

Yesterday, Rob Manfred sent Tony Clark a letter offering that he would remove expanded playoffs and the universal DH in 2021 season if the seaosn would be canceled midway through the campaign.

The players will now take a couple of days to analyze the rise of COVID-19 cases before making a decision on whether to accept the league’s latest proposal.

Meanwhile, Bob Nightengale of the USA Today tweeted out that 40+ players/coaches have tested positive for COVID-19. Jon Heyman of Fancred added that outbreaks have affected the camps of 10+ MLB clubs.
