The parade of Mets on the injured list continued to lessen in size on Friday, as New York welcomed back platoon man Luis Guillorme to the roster. Guillorme had been out since April 30 with an oblique injury, and returned to the team after a six week absence. Travis Blankenhorn was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse to make room for Guillorme’s return, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com

Mets ace Jacob deGrom left Friday’s game after six scoreless inning, and was seen discussing with trainers before entering the clubhouse. It was later revealed that deGrom left the game with right flexor tendonitis, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. Reliever Miguel Castro left Friday’s game in the seventh inning with a stiff neck.

Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo, who was thought to be dealing with a nerve issue, is actually suffering from a small ligament tear near the base of his left index finger, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. If all goes according to plan, the injury will heal on its own, and Nimmo hopes to start a rehab assignment next week. 

Carlos Carrasco, who has been working his way back from a hamstring tear since the spring, received a PRP injection in his leg because he wasn’t gaining the strength he wanted, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. This explains his throwing halt over the last few days. General manager Zack Scott said that a July return is still possible for the right-hander.

Infielder Jeff McNeil is expected to start his rehab assignment with the Brooklyn Cyclones on Sunday, and could possibly rejoin the team by next weekend, according to Mets acting GM Zack Scott. Scott also expects injured outfielder Michael Conforto to return the following weekend after McNeil. 

Mets acting GM Zack Scott told reporters on Friday that he’d like MLB to provide rules against illegal substances, according to Laura Albanese of Newsday. Scott also added that he doesn’t believe Pete Alonso’s theory that MLB changes the ball based on the outgoing free agent class. 

The Mets claimed RHP Nick Tropeano off of waivers from the San Francisco Giants on Friday, according to Michael Mayer of Metsmerized. He was later optioned to Triple-A. To make room for Tropeano on the 40-man roster, the Mets moved Tommy Hunter to the 60-day IL.

LHP Joe Beimel, a 44-year-old veteran who was drafted back in 1998 by the Padres, joined his 11th MLB team on Friday as he signed a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres, according to Dennis Lin of The Athletic. His last appearance in the major leagues came in 2015, and his last professional pitch came in 2017 for the New Britain Bees of the Atlantic League.
