The Mets will take on the St. Louis Cardinals for the final game before the All-Star break today at 2:15 p.m. They will send out Steven Matz to face Lance Lynn with the hopes of ending the first half on a high note.
Last night, the Mets lost 4-1. Paul DeJong once again went off against the Mets going 4-for-4 with a home run and three doubles. The Mets lone run scored against Adam Wainwright and came off of a Jay Bruce home run, No. 23 of the season for the outfielder. T.J. Rivera also chipped in three hits.
Additionally, Zack Wheeler did not pitch badly, going six innings, allowing two runs, while striking out five batters over the course of his 02 pitch outing. The bullpen faltered again; Fernando Salas and Rafael Montero would only last 2/3 of an inning each, both allowing runs.
