Good morning, Mets fans!

José Quintana and Elieser Hernández continued their roads back to the majors with rehab appearances for High-A Brooklyn on Sunday. Quintana started and went four innings, allowing two hits and one run with one walk and five strikeouts. The southpaw threw 47 pitches, 32 of which were strikes. Hernández came in after Quintana and worked a scoreless inning, striking out two batters.

Sean Reid-Foley also made another rehab appearance for the St. Lucie Mets, tossing a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. Reid-Foley reached 97 miles per hour on his fastball in the outing. Reid-Foley has been out of action ever since undergoing Tommy John surgery last spring.

Pete Alonso homered and drove in three runs, and Francisco Lindor hit his 15th homer of the year, but an ugly sequence that featured a Brett Baty throwing error, a bases-loaded walk, and two hit batsmen with the bases loaded led to a four-run eighth inning for the Phillies and a tough 7-6 loss for the Mets. Carlos Carrasco started and gave up five hits, two walks, and two runs with five strikeouts in four innings. Grant Hartwig threw two scoreless innings out of the bullpen, but Josh Walker failed to retire a batter and Jeff Brigham lost the strike zone after inheriting the bases loaded with none out. Buck Showalter was ejected from the game for arguing a check swing call against Mark Canha in the ninth inning.

At 35-42, the Mets welcome the Brewers to town for four games. Justin Verlander (2-4, 4.50 ERA) will look to get his first win in over a month, while the Brewers will counter with righty Colin Rea (3-4, 4.88 ERA). The Brewers swept the Mets at American Family Field back in April, a series that included two shutouts from the Milwaukee pitching staff. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.

David Peterson is expected to start for the Mets on Tuesday after Tylor Megill was optioned to Syracuse. Peterson has an underwhelming 4.50 ERA and has walked 18 batters in 32 innings for Syracuse this year, but he will get the call instead of Joey Lucchesi because Lucchesi started on Friday.

The Mets have claimed right-hander Reed Garrett off waivers from the Orioles and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse. Garrett has just a 7.90 ERA in his major league career, but he’s pitched to a strong 1.59 ERA in 22 2/3 innings in Triple-A this season.
