Good morning, Mets fans!

Jordan Walker of the Cardinals played a villain role in Monday night’s Home Run Derby, securing an electrifying final-round win.

In the first round, the 24-year-old belted 13 home runs, tying Willson Contreras for the most in the round. However, he would get second place from the distance tiebreaker.

Walker made quick work of the Ray’s Junior Caminero in the second round, needing just six home runs to advance to the final. Caminero was looking to become the first player to win the derby after being runner-up the year prior since 2015.

The final saw a true hero vs. villain story: the hometown Kyle Schwarber against Walker, and the round did not disappoint. All hope seemed lost for Walker after Schwarber belted 11 homers in his round. However, Walker was up to the task. With just five home runs with five swings to go, the righty slugger locked in. Three home runs in his next four swings brought his total to eight with one swing to go, needing three consecutive to tie. Walker would do just that, tying the derby with a chance to win.

With an 11-11 tie, Walker needed one final blast, and he delivered. A 450-foot blast played spoiler to a storybook hometown story.
