Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets won a great game Friday against the Marlins, 6-4. Brandon Nimmo hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth that proved to be the difference in the ballgame. Edwin Díaz was almost immaculate as he struck out all three batters on ten pitches, all for strikes. Liz Evangelou provided a detailed recap of the win.

The Mets received some good news surrounding some players on the injured list Friday. Tim Healey of Newsday reported that the Mets are expecting to get Trevor May back on Wednesday and James McCann on Thursday.

Most importantly, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reported that Jacob deGrom intends to pitch during the trip in Washington next week. It seems like Tuesday is the most likely day for him to make a start, the day after Max Scherzer.

2016: Mike Piazza‘s number 31 was retired by the Mets. He became the fourth Met to have his number retired, joining Casey Stengel (37), Gil Hodges (14), and Tom Seaver (41). Piazza hit .296 with 220 home runs in his career in New York and was a leader on and off the field.

2021: Mets trade for Javier Báez. While his Mets tenure only lasted a couple of months, Báez provided excitement down a stretch where the Mets ended up going nowhere. Over 47 games in Queens, he had a slash line of .299/.371/.515 with nine home runs and 22 RBI.
