Good morning, Mets fans!
I hope you had a great weekend, and enjoyed watching some Mets baseball!
The Mets got off to an early start on Sunday with three runs in the second inning, all driven in by young players. Francisco Alvarez started the party with an RBI double. Brett Baty followed it up with a hard hit single up the middle, and Mark Vientos hit a deep sacrifice fly to cap off the scoring in the inning.
Vientos broke the game open with a three-run home run to the opposite field, leaving fans reminiscing on his 2024 performance. New York took the rubber game over the Mariners, 7-3.
The only negative for the Mets was that Alvarez, who went 3-for-4, left the game early after jamming his right thumb. Carlos Mendoza said after the game that Alvarez is going back to New York to get an MRI on his thumb on Monday. They’ll know more details about his status then.
