Good morning, Mets fans!

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reported that Eduardo Escobar was not available in Thursday’s game due to a “non-workplace event,” according to Mets manager Buck Showalter.

Showalter went on to say he wouldn’t elaborate on the issue because of HIPAA and he was unsure of Escobar’s status for Friday’s game.

At the major league level, the Mets won a great game against the Brewers in the rubber game of a three-game series.

The Mets fell down 4-1 early after Tylor Megill suffered a shoulder injury, but the bullpen kept the game there allowing the offense to come back. Chasen Shreve, Seth Lugo, Drew Smith, and Edwin Diaz combined for 5.2 innings of shutout ball, as the Mets scored four runs in that span.

Nick Plummer drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning on a fielders choice, which Edwin Diaz held with an eventful top of the ninth.

A strange decision to send the tying run Hunter Renfroe home with one out led to him being gunned down. Diaz followed it by striking out Christian Yelich on a 94 mph slider to end the game.

Gianna Arantes provided a full recap of the series-winning game.

2008: The Mets make a surprise firing of manager Willie Randolph. After the historic collapse at the end of the 2007 season, Randolph was given a short amount of rope at the beginning of 2008. The Mets won the game 9-6 over a good Angels team, making the Mets record 34-35. However, this move clearly had been coming, and it sent shockwaves through the organization. Jerry Manuel took over the reins, and held them for two more full seasons before Terry Collins took over in 2011.
