Good morning, Mets fans!

According to Edwin Díaz, there is a possibility that we could see him on the mound for the Mets in 2023. Díaz met with reporters before the Mets’ game on Wednesday afternoon, and said that he would not rule out pitching this season if his recovery trends in the right direction, noting that doctors were already showing optimism about his recovery. Tim Britton of The Athletic recorded Díaz saying: “If everything goes well, I think I can be back quicker than eight months…. I might throw this year.” Ross Bentley has more on the story.

Now, it is time for the morning briefing.
