Good Morning Mets Fans. Although it doesn’t seem to be too good of a morning now, does it?

The Mets (8-13) will look to find their way tonight as they open up a three-game set in Washington (16-6) against the Nationals. Jacob deGrom will take the ball for New York and be opposed by Max Scherzer as things do not look to get any easier.

Tonight’s game is scheduled to begin at 7;05 PM ET and can be seen on SNY and MLB Network as well as heard on 710 WOR.

LATEST METS NEWS

It was not a good day to be a New York Met on Thursday as things continued to sputter out of control in what has been a surprisingly bad start to the 2017 season. Matt Harvey pitched for the team yesterday on three hours notice due to Noah Syndergaard not being able to go as he suffers from bicep tendinitis.

Harvey did not fare so well, pitching 4.1 innings while allowing six runs on five hits as he also walked five and struck out one. After the game he stated he felt tight and was not physically prepared to start after a rigorous workout the day before. It was a terribly handled situation by the organization for not providing better communication to Harvey when it was known the day before that Thor had some health issues going on and it was always a possibility that they may need him to start on Thursday. To make matters worse, Yoenis Cespedes needed to be helped off the field after straining his left hamstring while running out a double. The injury looked bad and it is expected that Cespedes will be placed on the 10-day disabled list. He was headed for an MRI yesterday and we have yet to hear the results. This is a blow that the Mets did not need and may not be able to afford. Read more from Kristie Ackert in the NYDN.

Mike Puma of the NY Post believes that the Mets season is slipping away right before our very eyes as the tailspin of 2017 continues. Injuries and a lack of energy have seemingly taken over this club with no light at the end of the tunnel. Manager, Terry Collins called a meeting with his team after their sixth consecutive loss and is optimistic things will still turn around. If the team has anything on their side, it is time as 141 games still remain.
