Brian Cashman held a press conference where he said he has spoken to his “good friend,” Omar Minaya, about a trade. Cashman mentioned dangling Clint Frazier in the same presser. He also said the teams spoke before Sandy Alderson went away from the team.

I think it’s clear that he wants deGrom and he is willing to forgo the Yankees-Mets tension (see last year with Bruce, Walker and Duda) to make the deal. Last time he made a trade with a good friend, he got Giancarlo Stanton.

Zack Wheeler has been drawing some trade interest per James Wagner of the New York Times. Wheeler is throwing 99 and has been as good as ever. I think the Mets will look long and hard at moving him especially since his contract is up next year.

Tim Tebow made the All-Star game in Double-A. Another interesting pitcher who made the All-Star team: Daniel Zamora. He has a 1.82 FIP out of the bullpen in Binghamton. He’s also a Long Island Lefty.

Seth Lugo is moving back to the bullpen.

Stephen Nogosek is moving to Binghamton while Ali Sanchez moved to St. Lucie. Sanchez has seemingly been in Columbia for a while now and Nogosek came over in the Addison Reed deal.

Betsy Helfand of the Las Vegas Review writes about Peter Alonso‘s rise to the No. 2 prospect of the Mets.
