MLB Insider Héctor Gómez reported that Bartolo Colon is working hard hoping to receive an opportunity from the Mets. Colon hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2018 with the Rangers, and last pitched for the Mets in 2016. He is 48 years old.

The Mets, meanwhile, were snowed out in Colorado Friday, leading to another doubleheader on Saturday.

The first game is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET, as Carlos Carrasco gets the ball for the Mets in game one. The Rockies haven’t announced a starter for that game yet.

Game two is slated to start at 8:40 p.m. ET, and Trevor Williams will face off against Austin Gomber.

The Mets have been very good in their four doubleheaders in 2022, as they have a 6-2 record.

2005: Dae-Sung Koo. Need I say more? On this day in 2005, Koo stunned everyone at Shea Stadium by smacking a double into right-center. He proceded to then score from second on a sacrifice bunt by Jose Reyes.

2016: David Wright smacks a walk-off single against the Brewers with the bases loaded in the ninth. The hit gave the Mets a 5-4 win.

2021: The Mets had one of their numerous exciting victories in 2021. This one came in Miami, as the Mets beat the Marlins 6-5 in 12. This game had something of everything. The only regular starters in the lineup were Francisco Lindor and Dominic Smith, as the rest of the team was on the injured list. The Mets went back and forth with the Marlins deep into extra innings, as Johneshwy Fargas and Khalil Lee provided crucial hits in the victory.
