Francisco Lindor continued his latest hot streak Thursday afternoon as the shortstop went 2-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored. Lindor was the ghost runner in the tenth inning, and scored the tying run thanks to Pete Alonso‘s walk-off home run. At one point in the Mets 7-6 win over the Cardinals, Lindor extended his streak of reaching base to eight straight plate appearances.

After walking in his first two plate appearances of the game, Lindor added to the Mets’ three-run fifth inning with a single. Lindor’s bat, and eye, have been waking up lately as the star has reached base in eight of his last nine plate appearances and he’s now tied with Brandon Nimmo for the team lead in walks with 21.

Lindor also stole an important base in the game and made a couple of fine defensive plays at short. Overall for the series, Lindor went 4-for-12 (.333) with six walks and seven runs scored.

The 28-year-old is hitting .240/.343/.400 with six doubles, six home runs, and 22 RBIs on the season. His 121 wRC+ is sixth among MLB shortstops and his 1.3 fWAR is tied for 13th among all position players in the National League.

Lindor leads all shortstops in runs scored and walks, and he leads all National League shortstops with his 1.3 WAR.

Looking deeper into the numbers and you see that Lindor’s xwOBA is .350, his highest since 2018 and his expected slugging of .448 is significantly higher than his actual slugging of .400.

In simpler terms, Francisco Lindor has been good for the Mets this season.
