On Tuesday night, the Mets played their second game of a three-game series in San Diego against the Padres in which they won by a score of 7-6 with the help of a late two-run home run by Pete Alonso.

Today the New York Mets will wrap up their series in San Diego. Newly-acquired Wilmer Font is expected to get the start for the Mets, and Matt Strahm will take the mound for San Diego.

Andersen Pickard of MLB Daily Dish reports that former Mets first baseman James Loney has retired from baseball. Loney signed with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball in February.

Tim Britton of The Athletic reports that Stephen Villines has been promoted to triple-A Syracuse. Villines did not allow an earned run in 12 2/3 innings with double-A Binghamton in 2019.
