Mets fan, an all-new episode is here!

This week Mike and I discuss the series split against the New York Yankees, Max Scherzer continues to struggle, Justin Verlander stepped up against Gerrit Cole, the Mets still don’t do the little things right, is Buck Showalter or Billy Eppler’s job in jeopardy before season’s end, David Stearns rumors are alive again, and much more!

What’s been the most noticeable difference from last year’s 101-win team to this season’s struggling group? For Mike, the attention to detail from the entire dugout has been missing, which falls on the manager, who’s known to do the little things well:

“It’s not just the fact that they would have been seven games under .500 with the highest payroll in baseball, but it’s how they have been losing (or almost losing) these games, it’s sloppy baseball. Which I think is what makes this extra frustrating, the thing everyone spoke so highly about of Showalter last year was because the Mets were “clean” and did the little things well, but so far this year, we have seen the opposite of that, including the coaching staff. There have been some moments recently where you come away questioning Buck and his decision-making, and in this case, sticking up for his players more like Drew Smith when he was ejected. It just feels like everyone in that dugout is playing and coaching in a fog that they can’t get away from.”
