Mets fan, an all-new episode is here!

This week Mike and I are joined by MLB Pipeline and SNY’s Jacob Resnick for some great conversations about Eduardo Escobar‘s heroic night against the Miami Marlins, preview the biggest series of the season against the Atlanta Braves, postseason expectations for Jacob deGrom, Francisco Alvarez‘s strong finish at Triple-A, and more!

After a poor performance against the woeful Oakland A’s, what should the concern level be for deGrom the rest of the year? Jacob says there shouldn’t be much at all:

“You don’t just erase 40 plus starts of Jake looking like the best pitcher of the last 20 years because of one blown up start. Is it slightly concerning because it was against the A’s? Maybe but If Jeff McNeil doesn’t trip over himself that first inning looks very different…but it was good to hear after the game deGrom say: “I was bad and didn’t have my good stuff.” He owned up to it, didn’t point the finger at anyone, and he just took responsibility for the poor outing which I respect…deGrom’s such a student of the game that I’m sure he’s just been in the video room the last five days looking at everything to correct them. At the end of the day this is Jacob deGrom with the biggest series of the season ahead, I expect things will be right back to normal for him.”
