Last week, the MMO team shared which Mets players — past and present — that we would like to be quarantined with. As you can imagine, certain players like Pete Alonso and Keith Hernandez were popular choices. This week, we’re branching out beyond just the Mets and talking all baseball players.

Matt

Javier Lopez held Chase Utley to a .241 OPS over his career. My enemy’s enemy is my friend. So Javier, based on that and that alone, I think we’ll make a good quarantine pair.

For present players, I’d go with Joey Gallo because he hits tanks, both in his apartment and every night on MLB The Show. I’m terrible at video games, but that could change with a few weeks of playing Gallo in The Show every night.

Mojo

I’d have to go with Clayton Kershaw, who is by far my favorite non-Mets player. Born and raised in LA, I’ve grown up watching and admiring who I personally consider to be the greatest pitcher of all-time (sorry Seaver and deGrom). Not only that, but he is clearly a tremendous human being judging by the countless interviews I’ve seen with him as well as his charity efforts off the field. I don’t think there’s anyone in baseball who competes as hard as him or takes the game as seriously as he does, and I think he would be a delightful, fascinating, and inspiring person to spend quarantine with.

Jack

Trevor Williams seems like a hysterical person based on his twitter account and videos of him posted on social media. If you’re stuck in quarantine, might as well make sure you can laugh.

Marissa

For a current non-Mets player I’m going to have to go with an obvious choice and say who else but Mike Trout. He’s clearly a hardworking guy who also keeps to himself and doesn’t want all the attention.

For a past player I’d choose Adrian Beltre. I don’t really have a definitive reason as to why other than seems like he will keep me entertained until this quarantine ends.

Hendon

Mark Fidrych had a short-lived career, but he was easily one of the more creative pitchers of his time and had a way of playing the game that was *extremely* ahead of the curve. Watching the little documentary bits of him pointing the ball somewhere before he threw it always amazed me. He also gave some pretty memorable interviews. His passing was extremely tragic, in large part because people remembered just how much about him they never got to know as a baseball mind. Dude was super charismatic. Would’ve loved to pick his brain.

Sam

I would love to hang out with Joey Gallo and Lucas Giolito. The two of them are just great players and genuinely cool guys. They have been so entertaining through this Players League and I find myself watching them every night McNeil isn’t playing. I’m learning a lot about players’ personalities throughout this league and it’s really interesting. I’d love to pick their brain about baseball and also just get to know them.

Sal

If I were to be quarantined with a non-Met, I think I would have to choose someone who I could eventually hit the golf course with, so I think I’ll have to pick Ken Griffey Jr. Not only would we hit the links together, but I would ask him a thousand questions about his career and hitting and it would be a lot of fun for me (for Griffey not to much I’m sure).

Michelle

Christian Yelich seems like the type of guy you can just have a beer (or many) with, binge watch some shows on Netflix, and just have a good time and a few laughs with. Other choices, naturally, would have to be some of my fellow Greeks like Nick Markakis, Mike Moustakas, Milt Pappas. We can sit around, have some spanakopita, gyros, and frappes, and call it a day. Growing up a ’90s kid though, I’d have to also mention Ken Griffy Jr. and Cal Ripken Jr. (who, I have been fortunate enough to meet, and is an absolute delight of a human).
