New York Mets Spring Training at their Minor League practice facility located within Tradition Field in Florida

Joey B. asks…

What happens if Ike Davis or Lucas Duda get sent down to the minors? Do they have to pass through waivers first and can another team just claim one of them like we claimed Eric Young Jr. from the Rockies last year?

Joe D. replies…

Good question. Even after all these years both Duda and Davis still have options remaining so the Mets won’t have to designate either of them for assignment.

Other Mets players who are on the bubble this Spring and can bypass waivers include: Jenrry Mejia, Jeurys Familia, Wilmer Flores, Anthony Recker, Andrew Brown, Zach Lutz and Kirk Nieuwenhuis.

Currently, the only players on the 40-man roster that are out of options are Ruben TejadaCarlos Torres and Eric Young Jr.. The three of them are in no danger of not making the team.
