The good news about last night: the pitching was great.

The bad news about last night: the hitting was not.

In what has become a common theme for the 2021 Mets, the pitching was on point last night, as they allowed just two runs over the course of the game. David Peterson battled and worked through six innings, allowing those two runs on four hits. Then the bullpen came in behind him and looked great, as Jeurys Familia, Miguel Castro and Trevor May pitched three scoreless innings.

The hitters continued to struggle though. They would out-hit the Red Sox, but they couldn’t bring anyone home, outside of a Jeff McNeil solo home run in the second inning. Now the Mets offense will look to get back on track against a familiar face, former Phillie Nick Pivetta.
