After a late finish last night, the Mets will take the field in an afternoon game two in the series against the Padres.
Oh, and it’s also 50 Cent day.
It’s going to be a battle of the young guns with Zack Wheeler taking the mound hoping to get his third win of the season against Jesse Hahn. Hahn, who was recently promoted from Double-A San Antonio, has only made one major league start giving up four runs in 3.2 innings against the Pittsburg Pirates on June 3.
Bartolo Colon had a great outing yesterday, pitching 7.1 innings giving up just four hits and two runs while striking out seven. After giving up a two-run homer in the second inning, Colon kept his composure and managed to take the win. He’s been on fire as of late, going 4-0 with a 1.83 ERA in his last five starts. Colon’s record now stands at 6-5 with a 4.15 ERA.
After being placed in the cleanup spot for the first time in nearly two years, Bobby Abreu went 4-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI’s. In addition to his bat, Abreu also displayed some flashes of brilliance in the field, putting on a display of his agility in the seventh.
Abreu is making a start in his fourth straight game, hitting fourth once again.
Curtis Granderson is still out of the lineup, although no new information has been released regarding his sore left calf.

The Mets and Padres play game two tonight at Citi Field after the Mets took the opener of the series thanks to some strong pitching from Colon and a 4-4 night from Abreu.
Wheeler will be getting the start on Firefighter night (fans with certain tickets can get a Wheeler bobblehead) and on 50 Cent night. So far this season Wheeler is 2-6 with a 4.19 ERA over 73.0 innings of work.
His last start against the Giants was the shortest of the season as he pitched 3.2 innings allowing 6 hits and 4 ER, still striking out 6.
Before that he had a streak of three games in a row where he allowed 2 ER or less. Last year he made one start against the Padres where he allowed one run and 7 hits over 6 innings of work. The Padres have the following numbers against Zack:

- Venable 1-3
- Rivera 1-2, 3B

The Mets bats will face off against Hahn who is one start into his rookie season. In his only start he allowed 4 ER over 6 hits and 3.2 innings of work. In the minors this year he pitched 11 games, 8 starts totaling 38.1 innings with a 2-1 record and a 2.11 ERA.
