The Mets have now dropped two games in a row after scoring 40 runs in the two games before that, but they look to turn it around today with Jacob deGrom on the mound. Yesterday, Noah Syndergaard wasn’t his best but there were some bright spots. Daniel Zamora made his major league debut and he pitched 1.1 innings allowing a walk and striking out two. Jeff McNeil went 2-for-4 with a double and Jackson had three hits on the day.

Jacob deGrom is 7-7 over 24 starts and 159.0 innings with a 1.81 ERA (league leading), 2.14 FIP (league leading), 0.969 WHIP and a 206 ERA+ (league leading). On Monday against the Yankees, he allowed three runs, two earned in 6.2 innings while striking out 12. In August, he’s pitched 20.2 innings posting a 1.74 ERA while striking out 31. In two games against the Phillies this year he has tossed nine scoreless innings. The Phillies have the following numbers against him:

Jeff McNeil has collected at least one hit in each of his last five starts, going 7-for-23 (.304) with five runs scored.

Amed Rosario is hitting .350 (14-for-40) with three doubles, two homers, nine RBI and nine runs scored in his last nine games. Rosario is second in the NL with eight stolen bases since the All-Star break. He has been successful in 13 of his last 15 stolen base attempts. Overall, he is tied for ninth in the majors with six triples.

Austin Jackson is batting 28-for-70 (.400) in his first 20 games with the Mets. Jackson was signed by the Mets on July 27 and since that time he ranks second in the majors with a .400 batting average (min. 50 at-bats).

Jacob deGrom has held opponents to three runs or less in 21 straight starts, the second-longest single-season streak in franchise history. Dwight Gooden had a 24-game streak in 1985. It is tied for the sixth-longest single-season streak by any starter since 1950. DeGrom has hurled 16 straight quality starts, the longest active streak in the majors. DeGrom’s streak is tied for the third-longest in team history for a single season (Tom Seaver had 16 in 1969 and Jerry Koosman had 16 in 1969). Tom Seaver had 19 straight quality starts in 1973 and Gooden had 17 in 1985.
