The Mets and Phillies continue their five-game series on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park in a 3:05 PM matinee.

Jacob deGrom (0-2, 1.83 ERA) takes the hill for the Mets and opposes Kyle Kendrick (1-5, 4.05 ERA) for the Phillies.

DeGrom is still searching for his first major league win despite a pristine 1.83 ERA. He has gone at least 6.0 innings and allowed no more than three runs in each of his first three starts.

Over the last 10 games, the Mets pitching staff is 5-4 with a 2.30 ERA (24 earned runs/94.0 innings) and have held opponents to a .195 batting average.

Bobby Abreu swiped his 400th career stolen base last night and is only the sixth player in major league history to steal 400 or more bases and hit 250 or more home runs. He gets the start in right field today.

The Mets announced that center fielder Juan Lagares has been scratched from today’s lineup due to a right rib cage spasm. Chris Young, who is batting .202 with a .289 on-base will start in center field instead this afternoon and bat leadoff.

Starting Lineup

  1. Chris Young – CF
  2. Daniel Murphy – 2B
  3. David Wright – 3B
  4. Curtis Granderson – LF
  5. Bobby Abreu – RF
  6. Lucas Duda – 1B
  7. Anthony Recker – C
  8. Ruben Tejada – SS
  9. Jacob deGrom – RHP

The Mets lost a tough one yesterday in 14 innings. It was a back and forth game that ended with the Mets snapping their three game streak, and tonight they look to start a new winning streak with deGrom on the mound as he takes on Kyle Kendrick.

Jacob deGrom is 0-2 over three games this season and 19.2 innings with a 1.83 ERA. His last start against the Pirates was his best of his short career allowing 5 hits no runs over 6.2 innings while walking 5 and striking out 4 batters. Well, by some measures it might not have been the best start (maybe his opening start 7.0 IP, 4 H, ER, 2 BB, 6 K). This will be his first start of many against the Phillies.

The Mets bats will get another look at the familiar Kyle Kendrick who is 1-5 over 10 games and 62.1 innings with a 4.04 ERA. His first four starts in May he pitched 25.0 innings with a 5.76 ERA but in his last start he allowed no runs over 6.2. One of those starts was against the Mets where he allowed 4 ER over 5.1 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against Kyle:

  • Wright 15-44, 3 2B, 3 HR
  • Murphy 6-30, 2B
  • Duda 3-18, 2 2B, HR
  • Tejada 4-19
  • C Young 3-17, 2B, HR
  • Lagares 3-5, 2B

Lets Go Mets!
