Game Notes

Both Anthony Swarzak and Dominic Smith returned to baseball activities on Friday. Yoenis Cespedes will be playing in the second game tonight. Jacob deGrom threw a 20-pitch bullpen earlier today.

The Mets will also play at 6:05 tonight in West Palm Beach against the Houston Astros with Robert Gsellman starting against Gerrit Cole.

J.J. Franco, son of former Met John Franco will be available off the bench vs the Nats. He hit .277/.381/.321 in 36 games for the Low-A Columbia Fireflies last year.

RHP Jacob Rhame, RHP Hansel Robles, LHP Matt Purke, RHP Drew Smith and RHP Marcos Molina are scheduled to pitch against the Nats following Rafael Montero.

Today’s game at First Data Field is the first of six matchups between the two teams this spring and the first of three vs. the Nationals in Port St. Lucie.
