Bartolo Colon will look to improve his record this season to 5-0 when the New York Mets play a rubber match against the Miami Marlins at 7:10 PM at Marlins Park on Wednesday. Colon will be opposed by right-hander Mat Latos (0-3, 7.31 ERA).

With a win tonight, Colon could become the first Mets pitcher to win his first five starts of a season since Pedro Martinez in 2006. Frank Viola owns the franchise record, going 7-0 in his first seven starts of the 1990 season.

After last night’s game, the Mets recalled LHP Jack Leathersich from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and optioned RHP Rafael Montero to Las Vegas. Leathersich, who has never appeared in the majors, will wear #51 and will be available for tonight’s game.

Well the Marlins finally beat the Mets in 2015 last night and set up a rubber game for the conclusion of the series. Montero had a good start last night but the Mets roster let him down in two ways. First, there were several run scoring opportunities that they squandered throughout the game. Second, the defense in the 6th inning led to a series of events that led to 3 runs being scored. The Mets were able to tie it back up late, but Carlos Torres had a rough outing with control issues and the Mets couldn’t push iacross another run late.

Bartolo Colon will get the start for the Amazin’s tonight as he looks to build off his 4-0 start over his first 4 games with a 2.77 ERA over 26.0 innings. On the season he has walked 1 and struck out 23 batters. His third start of the season was against the Marlins where he allowed 1 run over 6 hits over 7.0 innings walking none and striking out 5.
