Assistant GM John Ricco told reporters in Miami that Rafael Montero is being sent to New York to have an MRI on his right shoulder.
Montero complained of tightness in the back of his right shoulder. Ricco says it’s precautionary.
Montero took a scoreless effort into the sixth last night against the Marlins, but ultimately was charged with three runs in 5 2/3 innings.
He was optioned to Las Vegas after the game, but that may now be rescinded if he heads to the DL.
