The Mets won a game AND THEY SCORED MORE THAN THREE RUNS! The Mets beat the Diamondbacks 5-1 yesterday, mostly due to Conforto and Matz. Conforto hit a three-run homer to make the game 3-0 and later added in another RBI while Matz allowed only one run. The Mets will look to build on this today behind Wheeler and win two games in a row for the first time in 33 years.

Wheeler is 2-5 over 12 games and 68.2 innings with a 4.98 ERA, 4.00 FIP, .1442 WHIP and 76 ERA+. He is coming off a start in Atlanta where everything fell apart in the 6th inning. His like reads eight hits, six runs over 5 2/3, but everything happened in the sixth as the Mets defense, Wheeler, and the bullpen just imploded. The Mets will get a look at the new Arizona Diamondback, Clay Buchholz who is 1-1 over five starts and 28 innings this year allowing 11 runs, 10 earned. His numbers are greatly impacted by his last outing where he allowed six runs, five earned over four innings raising his ERA to 3.21, with it being 1.88 before that start. His season debut was against the Mets where he allowed one run over five innings holding the Mets to two hits and a walk. The Mets have the following numbers against Clay:

Game Notes
All 30 MLB clubs will wear symbolic blue ribbons on their uniforms and specially-designed light blue caps today to raise awareness for prostate cancer and raise funds for research to fight the disease. MLB will again donate all royalty payments from the sales of specialty caps and apparel to the Prostate Cancer Foundation and Stand Up To Cancer.

Michael Conforto tied his career-high with four RBI last night. It was his fourth career four-RBI game and first since July 14, 2017 vs. Colorado. Conforto has two homers in his last three games and has driven in five runs over his last three contests. He has a 14.8% walk rate, ranking eighth in the NL.
New York has hit 12 home runs in its last seven games and 23 homers in its last 21 games, but, 18 of those have been
solo blasts. The Mets have 28 two-strike homers this year, tied for the most in the National League with Milwaukee and tied for the sixth-most in the majors.
