While the rest of the sports loving world is binging on back to back great college basketball games today, as Mets fans we get a binge of our own! A split squad double header! The Mets took on the Cardinals in St. Lucie this afternoon and tonight half the squad heads down to West Palm beach to take on the Astros. The Mets haven’t had a split squad since March 4th and it’s the first time (and the only time) this Spring Training season that they play in a night game!

Jason Vargas is hitting the road to face the Astros. He faced his first bump in the road in his last start where he allowed 4 runs towards the end of his outing. Before he did that though, his ERA for the spring dipped down to a 0.75. Overall this spring he has allowed 5 runs over 12.1 innings, a 3.65 ERA. The hope is he sees a lot of major league regulars today and it’s a good tuneup before the Mets start pivoting towards final preparations for the season.

The game starts at 6:05 p.m. with audio available from WCBS 880.
