After taking the first game in the three-game series, the Mets will try to keep rolling against the Miami Marlins with a 4:10 PM matchup at Citi Field. Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-3, 3.32) toes the mound for the Mets opposite Miami Marlins right-hander Tom Koehler (6-7, 3.98).

Mets starters have gone at least 6.1 innings in seven straight starts…That is New York’s longest such streak since June 16-23, 2000 (also seven games). The last such stretch longer than seven games was a nine-game streak from June 10-19, 1995.

Taylor Teagarden began a rehab assignment Saturday in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Teagarden is serving as the designated hitter for the Gulf Coast League Mets. He has been on the disabled list since June 22 with a strained left hamstring.

Jeremy Hefner tossed a 1-2-3 inning for the Gulf Coast League Mets on Saturday morning in Port St. Lucie, Fla. It marked his first time pitching in a game since undergoing Tommy John surgery on Aug. 28, 2013.

David Wright tied his career-high with four hits last night. It was the 19th four-hit game of his career and second this season. He is hitting .385 (25-65) with a hit in 16 of his last 17 games and has 13 RBI in his last 17 games, including four home runs.

Lucas Duda has five home runs and 15 RBI since June 21 (18 games). His 15 RBI are the sixth-most in the NL over that period. Duda has reached base safely in 17 of his last 18 games, hitting .322 (19-59) with a .429 on-base percentage. He is fourth in the NL with an RBI every 5.7 at-bats and 18th in the NL with a .356 on-base percentage.

Juan Lagares tied his career-high with three hits last night. It was his 10th career three-hit game. He has three doubles in his last five games.

The Mets beat the Marlins 7-1 last night with David Wright going 4-4 and the Mets look to take their third series in a row today as Daisuke Matsuzaka takes the mound. On the season he is 3-3 over 25 games and 8 starts with a 3.32 ERA over 65.0 innings. After back to back starts of allowing 5 ER in his last outing against the Braves he didn’t allow any runs over 7.0 innings. He has allowed 4 runs, 3 earned in 6.2 innings of work against the Marlins this year who have the following numbers against him:

Those two starts are weighing heavily on his numbers. The New Rochelle native has pitched against the Mets three times already this year logging 20.0 innings with a 2.70 ERA.
