Following their 7-1 win in the series opener with the Atlanta Braves, the New York Mets will look to win their 10th game in a row on Wednesday night at Citi Field.

Dillon Gee (0-1, 7.59 ERA) will take the mound and try to keep the streak alive and he’ll oppose Braves lefty Eric Stults (0-1, 6.30 ERA) in a 7:10PM matchup.

The Mets have registered eight double-digit winning streaks in their history, four of which lasted 11 games and four of which spanned 10 games. The 11-gamers took place in 1969, 1972, 1986 and 1990. The 10-gamers occurred in 1969, 1976, 1991 and 2008. The Mets finished at least 10 games over .500 in seven of those eight seasons.

Mets Starting Lineup

  1. John Mayberry Jr. – RF
  2. Juan Lagares – CF
  3. Lucas Duda – 1B
  4. Michael Cuddyer – LF
  5. Eric Campbell – 3B
  6. Kevin Plawecki – C
  7. Wilmer Flores – SS
  8. Ruben Tejada – 2B
  9. Dillon Gee – RHP

The next man up mentality is strong with this team! Two days after losing a catcher in a hot streak and a reliever who was perfect on the season, the Mets still looked sharp against the Braves as they won their 9th straight game. Tonight the Mets look to take the second game of the series which would take the series overall and be the 10th win in a row. Last night, Plawecki made his major league debut going 2-4 and scoring 2 runs. However the stars of the night were Granderson and Niese. Niese allowed a solo homer and nothing else over 6.2 innings and Granderson went 3-5 with his first extra base hit of the season and his first RBI’s on the season (4!).

Dillon Gee gets the nod tonight. Its been a rough start to the season for Dillon who is 0-1 over 10.2 innings with a 7.59 ERA. As the Mets approach the date where Montero will make a 6th start, the feeling has to start to creep about if Gee could be on a short leash (although I’m not sure how credible that feeling is). His first start of the season was against the Braves where he allowed 5 ER over 5.0 innings and 8 hits, 4 runs coming in his last inning. The Braves have the following numbers against Gee:

  • Freeman 8-32, 2 2B, 2 HR
  • C Johnson 3-15, 2B
  • Simmons 4-17, 2 2B
  • Maybin 1-9, 2B
  • K Johnson 2-9
  • E Young 2-7, 3B
  • Markakis 2-3

The Mets will get another look at Eric Stults who is 0-1 on the season allowing 7 ER over 10.0 innings, bringing his ERA to a 6.30. His first start against the Mets wasn’t bad, but wasn’t good either. He allowed 3 ER over 5.0 innings and 7 hits walking 1 and striking out 3. In his last outing against Miami he allowed 4 ER over 5 hits and 2 walks that occurred over 5.0 innings. The Mets have the following numbers against Stults:

  • Wright 5-10, 2B, HR
  • Cuddyer 1-8
  • Mayberry 5-11, 3 2B, HR
  • d’Arnaud 1-4
  • Flores 0-4
  • Lagares 1-5
  • Duda 1-4
