The New York Mets (29-38) took the third game of this four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks (39-31) by a score of 5-1 Saturday night in Arizona.

Pitching:

Steven Matz pitched a strong outing against the D-backs tonight. Matz pitched 6.2 innings, giving up one earned run, striking out three, and walking only one batter.

Robert Gsellman came in for relief for Matz in the 7th inning with two runners on base with two outs. Gsellman hit the first batter he faced to load up the bases, but then induced a Nick Ahmed groundout to get out of the bases-loaded jam and keep the score at 5-1.

Anthony Swarzak pitched the 9th in a non-save situation, up by four runs. He pitched a 1-2-3 inning striking out the three batters he faced.

Hitting:

In the top of the 2nd inning, Michael Conforto got the offense started with a three-run shot into the right-field seats to give the Mets a 3-0 lead.

The next inning Amed Rosario scored on a wild pitch to score the Mets fourth run of the game.

Conforto again came up big and drove in his fourth RBI of the game with a double in the 6th inning to give the Mets a 5-0 lead.

This was the first time in 11 games that the Mets have scored more than three runs in a single game. Also, the Mets offense punched out 10 hits tonight, the first time since May 29th against the Atlanta Braves.
