MLB: New York Mets at Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers defeated the Mets by a score of 4-3 in tonight’s game at Dodger Stadium.

Offense:

The Mets’ lineup wasn’t able to muster any offense tonight against Zack Greinke, who allowed only four hits in seven dominant innings.

They had much better luck against the Dodgers’ bullpen, but their comeback attempt fell just short.

New York rallied for two runs in the 8th with a RBI double by Lucas Duda and a RBI single to left field by Wilmer Flores.

Even though  Ruben Tejada and Kevin Plawecki reached base to start the 9th, the Mets were unable to drive home the tying run. Michael Cuddyer flied out in the next at-bat, and Juan Lagares hit a sacrifice fly to make the score 4-3.  Curtis Granderson struck out swinging to end it.

Pitching:

Matt Harvey didn’t have his best stuff, but managed to keep the team in the game. He allowed three runs and seven hits during five innings pitched.

It was an unusual outing for the Mets’ ACE as he struggled with his command. He walked five batters, which is the most he’s ever issued since his rookie season.

Alex Torres pitched 1.1 innings in relief and allowed a run, two hits and a walk.

The Mets also received scoreless appearances by Sean Gilmartin and Carlos Torres.

On Deck:

Steven Matz will get the start tomorrow against Mike Bolsinger at 4:10 PM. The game will be televised on WPIX.
