Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that Stephen Strasburg has decided to opt-out of the remaining four years and $100 million left on his contract, making himself a free agent.

Strasburg, 31, won the 2019 World Series MVP award within the last week after helping secure the Washington Nationals’ first title.

In 2019, he was one of the best pitchers in all of baseball with an 18-6 record to go along with a 3.32 ERA, 3.25 FIP, and 1.038. Over 33 starts (209 innings), the right-hander averaged 10.8 K/9 and 2.4 BB/9.

Who will be interested in his services remains to be seen, but the likelihood is that most teams interested in Gerrit Cole will also be interested in Stephen Strasburg.
