Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that Aroldis Chapman has decided not to opt-out and will instead sign a one-year extension with the club for $18 million.

That will keep the left-handed closer with the team through the 2022 season. He is now set to make $48 million over the next three seasons as Mark Feinsand of MLB.com notes.

Chapman, 31, recorded 37 saves in 2019 with a 2.21 ERA, 2.28 FIP, and 1.105 WHIP. Over the 57 innings he tossed, Chapman averaged 13.4 K/9 as compared to 3.9 BB/9.
