Former Astros pitcher Mike Fiers told Ken Rosental and Evan Drellich of The Athletic that Houston was using electronics to steal signs during home games in 2017.

Major League Baseball rules prohibit clubs from using electronic equipment to steal catchers’ signs and convey the information. Fiers – along with three other people who were with the Astros that season – confirmed that the team used a camera positioned in the outfield to steal signs.

Fiers last season with the Astros was in 2017, when they won the World Series, “They were advanced and willing to go above and beyond to win.”

Back in September of 2017, the news broke that the Red Sox had been caught using an Apple Watch to steal signs from the Yankees. Commissioner Rob Manfred decided that the Red Sox had violated the rules and were fined an undisclosed amount.
