michael ConfortoThe Florida State League Announced today that it has named Michael Conforto its Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Conforto is in the middle of an eight-game hitting streak in which he is batting .394/.474/.636 with a homer and five doubles. On the season, he is hitting .295/.358/.486 with seven homers, 27 RBI, 12 doubles, and 15 walks in 193 trips to the plate. He is currently seventh in the league in hits, third in RBI, fourth in home runs, and first in total bases.

The Mets drafted Conforto, 22 years old, out of Oregon State last year with their first-round pick. He was considered one of the draft’s most advanced hitters after three seasons at Oregon State, where he was named Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2013.
