The Mets had three of the first 33 picks in this years Annual Baseball Draft. And while the first two picks have yet to impress, Brad Holt who chosen at number 33 overall, has opened eyes all over the baseball world.
He first burst onto the scene when he made his professional debut with Brooklyn Cyclones and fired five no-hit innings. Since then he has continued to impress and just keeps getting better as he gains more experience.
In his last two starts, including his brilliant ten strikeout performance last night, Brad Holt has pitched 14 innings while allowing just one earned run and fanning 18 while walking just three batters. (Hell yeah!)

While Jon Niese seems to be the overall consensus for the Mets top pitching prospect, Holt is quickly emerging and may overtake Niese for the honor as soon as next season.
What impresses me most about Holt right now is his numbers against right handed hitters. In 37 innings pitched he has allowed just 37 batters to reach base, and he has a whopping 46 strikeouts against them. His strikeout to walk ratio is almost 5:1 which puts him in the lights out category!
