Happy Saturday Mets fans! And welcome to another installment of Hot or Not! The main story this week is the return of both Ryan Church and Luis Castillo. I thought sweeping the Braves would be more bittersweet, but I guess our anger and resentment now resides in Philadelphia. The Mets have won 10 out of their last 11 and remain 2.5 games up on the Phillies!

Hot As Fire
Johan Santana: Over his last 2 starts, Johan has pitched 16 scoreless innings and allowed 11 hits. His first shutout as a Met was nothing short of magical and bullpen has gotten a much needed rest, thanks to Mike Pelfrey following suit, in his first career complete game.

Carlos Delgado: If you had asked me two months ago, I would have (and probably did) say that Carlos Delgado was done, 0-for-the-season. Cut our losses now and go after Mark Teixiera. Carlos Delgado has proved his vital role in this organization. When he performs, the team is better as a whole. His first 5-for-5 game since 1998 also helped him this week.

Not At All
No Mets Players! Everyone is Amazin’!

Washington Nationals: They were on a 12-game losing streak before snapping it this week against the Phillies. The only race they’re in is the one with the Mariners for the 1st overall pick in the 2009 draft. And we definitely got the better end of the deal on the Lastings Milledge trade.

Oakland Athletics: Trading away the organization my have worked to an extent for the Marlins, but it’s definitely not working for the A’s. They lost to the Twins this week, marking their 11th consecutive series loss. They recalled pitcher Dana Eveland from the minors to help stop the bleeding, giving the A’s and all-lefty rotation.

The Mets just keep on rolling! I’m most definitely not looking forward to the day off on Thursday!
