Tim Healey of Newsday reports that the Mets have signed Brett Baty and he will be introduced at Citi Field on Saturday at 4 p.m. with Brodie Van Wagenen present. Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports that the deal is for $3.9 million/

Prior to that, the Mets 12th overall pick will be taking batting practice at 3 p.m. at the stadium.

Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com first reported that the deal is under-slot value. Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline got the specifics of the deal as he notes it is for $3.9 million, which is lower than the $4,366,400 slot allocated to that pick.

The team could potentially use some of the money saved to sign third-rounder Matthew Allan, and they now will have the ability to offer the right-handed starter $2,835,500.

Baty, 19, is listed in the Brooklyn Cyclones roster section in their media guide, suggesting that it’s possible that he plays for them at some point this season.

Thomas Jones of the Austin-American Statesman reported on Tuesday night that the team was expected to finalize a contract with the third baseman before the end of the week.

Dilip Sridhar gave a scouting report of Baty that can be seen here.
