As per the SNY broadcast of Friday night’s [scheduled] game, New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo was scratched from his rehab appearance with Triple-A Syracuse with neck soreness.

Nimmo, 26, was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to May 21 with a stiff neck, which was then re-diagnosed as a bulging disk and whiplash on May 25.

He suffered the injury in an April 14 crash into the outfield wall and left a game on April 16 with what was first called neck stiffness.

After a slow start, Nimmo hit .333/.429/.574 with four doubles and three home runs over 63 plate appearances from April 7 through April 28 (17 games) before his production level fell off a cliff (.120/.308/.180 over 65 plate appearances from April 29 to May 20; 65 plate appearances).

The Wyoming native was slashing .200/.344/.323 on the year with a .301 wOBA, 90 wRC+, and a highly-alarming 29.8% strikeout rate when he hit the IL.

As per Laura Albanese of Newsday, the Mets confirmed Nimmo will be reevaluated on Saturday.

We’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
