The Mets announced Tuesday that they have released right-handed pitcher Brad Brach. Additionally, right-hander Corey Oswalt has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse. Both players were designated for assignment last week.

Brach, 34, was picked up as a free agent in the summer of 2019 after being released by the Chicago Cubs. The Mets re-signed Brach to a one-year deal with a 2021 player option that offseason.

During the shortened 2020 season, The Freehold Township, New Jersey native appeared in 14 games and registered a 5.84 ERA, 6.68 FIP and had a 1.784 WHIP.

The 10-year MLB vet has seen a steep decline in his fastball velocity the last couple years, though, he could still be an option for another team should he latch on elsewhere.

Brach is represented by Big League Management.

Oswalt, 27, has logged just 84.1 innings over the span of three seasons for the Mets, as he has been used mostly as a member of the taxi squad from Triple-A to the bigs.

At the end of the day, Oswalt acts as minor league rotation depth who could spot start for the Mets if need be. They have team control over him for five more years, though he no longer has waiver options.
