The New York Mets have recalled RHP Chris Mazza from Triple-A Syracuse. This marks the fifth time this season the Mets have recalled Mazza from the minors to pitch out of the bullpen.

Over his previous stints, Mazza has pitched in six games. In those six games, he was 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA, 2.057 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9, and a 6.2 K/9. In each of those six appearances, he has allowed at least one run. In his last Major League appearance on August 30, he allowed four runs in an inning pitched in the Mets 11-4 loss against the Philadelphia Phillies.

After that appearance, he was sent down to Syracuse. He would make an appearance on the final game of the regular season pitching two scoreless innings in Syracuse’s 8-4 victory over the Rochester Red Wings propelling them to the play-in game. Mazza would not appear in that play-in game.

On the season with Syracuse, he made 13 starts and one relief appearance going 3-3 with a 3.67 ERA, 1.092 WHIP, 2.1 BB/9, and a 7.3 K/9.

With Mazza up with the Mets, the only players remaining on the 40 man roster who have not been recalled are Chris Flexen, Eric Hanhold, Stephen Nogosek, and Corey Oswalt. With the exception of Hanhold, each one of these pitchers pitched in the majors at some point this season, and Hanhold made three relief appearances for the Mets in September last year.
