There no longer is a B-Team with these New York Metropolitans. Even with Yoenis Cespedes, David Wright, Travis d’Arnaud, Tyler Clippard and Jeurys Familia all getting the day off, this team did not miss a beat.

This team continues to show guts, and a “never say die” attitude. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth and down by three runs there is never a thought that this club would go down, especially to the players in that dugout.

Daniel Murphy continued his clutch hitting with the three-run bomb that brought the Mets into extras, giving them the chance to take the series sweep of the Braves at Turner Field.

“Just another great effort. Two outs, nobody on, tremendous at-bats,” Mets manager Terry Collins said. “Get the right guys up there, Murphy gets up and you just have the sense something big is going to happen. It’s really been incredible.”

The Mets finished their 10-game road trip with an 8-2 record, and secured their first winning season since 2008.

It’s remarkable how every time a regular position player is given a day off, another player who probably could start on another team takes their place and delivers.

This team has one of the best, if not the best benches in all of the major league baseball right now, a far cry from where it was on July 24. Overall, Sandy Alderson has done a heck of a job of putting together a formidable offense to go with this dangerous pitching staff.

“You got to tip your cap to them, they don’t quit,” Collins said. “It doesn’t matter who is in there they all want to be a part of it.”

The Mets could not be more well-equipped, as well as mentally and physically prepared, to go deep into the post-season the way they are currently producing. This is a team to be reckoned with. They believe every game is winnable no matter how dire the circumstances.

“There’s a silent confidence when we take the field,” David Wright told Newsday. “You never feel like you’re out of the game.”

“Like today, there was just a feeling something was about to happen. And I think when you have that attitude — it’s not cocky, just confidence — you feel like you’re going to win the game before it even starts. We believe we’re going to win every day.”

With their magic number down to 11 games to clinch the NL East, it is only a matter of time before we all get to throw on a NL East Division Champion t-shirt and board the 7-train to the very first playoff game at Citi Field.
