logan Verrett

Earlier today the Mets transferred infielder Wilfredo Tovar  to the 60 day disabled list to make room for newly acquired reliever Addison Reed on the 40 man roster.

After Sunday’s 5-4 victory against the Boston Red Sox, the Mets optioned RHP Logan Verrett to Triple-A Las Vegas to make room for Reed on the 25 man active roster.

In ten appearances for the Mets this season, including a stellar spot start filling in for Matt Harvey against the Colorado Rockies a week ago, Verrett has a 1.93 ERA and a 0.651 WHIP over a 23.1 innings span.

Verrett hurled eight impressive innings and allowed just one run on four hits while striking out eight against the Rockies to earn his first major league win.

The Mets will likely recall Verrett after ten days or sooner if they were to place another player on the disabled list.
