The Mets announced that they have optioned P.J. Conlon to Triple-A after getting roughed up Monday in Atlanta. Gerson Bautista had been the 26th man for Monday’s double header, but after Conlon’s poor showing, the Mets decided to keep Bautista with Noah Syndergaard going to the disabled list.

Conlon, 24, has two no-decisions on the year with an inflated 11.12 ERA, 8.06 FIP, and 2.471 WHIP across two starts. In 2+ innings against the Braves Monday, he allowed four earned runs on eight hits, one home run, and no walks while striking out one.

While Bautista, 22, hasn’t been particularly effective this season at the Major or minor league levels, he has great stuff and plenty of upside. He’s appeared in just two MLB games, allowing two earned runs in 2.1 innings with two strikeouts, three hits, and four walks.
